Facial Volume & Shaping Consultation

A Considered Approach to Facial Volume and Shaping

Facial volume naturally changes over time as part of the ageing process. Gradual changes in bone support, fat compartments, and skin quality may contribute to hollowing, soft tissue descent, and the development of deeper facial lines. At Karui Aesthetics, each case is assessed individually following a thorough consultation. Treatment options are discussed where clinically appropriate for the individual.

Areas of Treatment

Treatment areas assessed at consultation.

The following areas may be assessed and discussed at consultation, where clinically appropriate following individual assessment.

Cheeks & Midface

Treatments used to address volume changes in the cheek and midface area associated with the natural ageing process.

Lips

Treatments used to address the appearance of the lip area, including volume and definition. Assessed in the context of surrounding facial features and proportions.

Jawline

Treatments used to address the appearance of the jawline. Assessment considers the relationship between the jaw, chin, and surrounding facial structure.

Chin

Treatments used to address the appearance of the chin area in the context of overall facial proportion and balance.

Tear Trough / Under Eye

Treatments used to address the appearance of the under-eye area. This area requires careful clinical assessment and is only undertaken where appropriate following consultation.

Facial Balancing

In some cases, treatment across multiple areas may be considered as part of a whole-face approach. All multi-area planning is assessed comprehensively at consultation.

All areas are subject to a prior consultation at which clinical suitability is assessed individually. Not all areas will be appropriate for all patients.

Understanding Volume Loss

Facial ageing is not solely a surface change it is a structural process. Volume changes may occur due to:

  • Changes in underlying bone support
  • Reduction and redistribution of facial fat compartments
  • Decreased collagen and skin elasticity
  • Gradual soft tissue descent over time

These changes vary between individuals and influence how the face evolves with age.

Areas Commonly Addressed

A consultation may include assessment of volume changes in areas such as:

  • Under-eye area (tear trough region)
  • Cheeks and midface
  • Temples
  • Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
  • Chin and jawline
  • Lip area

A personalised assessment is required to determine whether treatment is appropriate for each area and for the individual.

A Structured, Individualised Approach

Effective assessment of facial volume changes requires a detailed understanding of facial anatomy and proportion. Assessment is tailored to each individual, with consideration given to:

  • Facial structure and balance
  • Areas of volume change
  • Skin quality and tissue support
  • Individual goals

Treatment options, where appropriate, are discussed at consultation along with what each procedure involves, what it does not address, associated risks, and individual variation in any effect.
