Teeth Grinding & Jaw Clenching Consultation

Jaw Clenching & Teeth Grinding (Bruxism)

Teeth grinding and jaw clenching also known as bruxism can lead to a range of functional concerns including discomfort, tension, and dental wear. Over time, excessive activity of the jaw muscles may also contribute to changes in the lower facial appearance. At Karui Aesthetics, each case is assessed individually at consultation to determine whether treatment is clinically appropriate.

Understanding Bruxism

Bruxism is often associated with overactivity of the masseter muscle — a key muscle involved in chewing and jaw movement.

Symptoms may include:

  • Jaw tension or discomfort
  • Teeth grinding, particularly during sleep
  • Headaches or facial fatigue
  • Dental wear or sensitivity

Each individual may experience these symptoms differently. A consultation is required to determine whether treatment is appropriate and, if so, what approach may be considered.

A Considered Treatment Approach

Where treatment is assessed as clinically appropriate, options will be discussed in full at consultation including what the procedure involves, what it does not address, associated risks, and individual variation in any effect.

In some cases, a referral to a dental practitioner may be recommended alongside or instead of any procedure. All decisions are made in consultation with the patient. There is no obligation to proceed.

What to Expect

All procedures are performed in a clinical setting. As with any medical procedure, downtime and individual responses vary between individuals. Your practitioner will discuss suitability, potential treatment options, and associated risks during your consultation before any decision is made.

Begin with a Consultation

A personalised consultation allows for a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms and individual circumstances, and a discussion of any treatment options that may be appropriate.
